Review of The Lookout (2007) by Emil K — 09 Nov 2008
A Fantastic debut! This film gives a wholly fresh feel and idea for a Film-Noir. Actually it is more character-study than crime-film. Director/writer Scott Frank does brilliant job with lead-actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt and makes us really care about him.
He is truly one of the most touching characters ever put on celluloid. This film is a story about redemption and letting the past go. It is heartbreakingly touching at times and very suspenseful also.
Part where Chris finally faces the accident from his past as he escapes the criminals with car is truly effecting piece of film-making. This film is by far one of the best debut-films ever made in history of cinema and marks the coming of one the most talented directors out there.
