Review of The Lookout (2007) by I'M Alex — 21 Apr 2009
I wasn't sure what to expect from this film. It came out at a time when I was not really interested in seeing most movies in theaters. I was expecting more of bank robbery sort of film, because of the title.
I was pleasantly surprised. Gordon-Levitt plays the lead role well as someone trying to put their life back together after a tragedy, but then almost falls to a tragic end himself. Jeff Daniels plays his blind friend with just the right enough of humor to lighten the mood at times.
Interestingly enough, Roeper (of Ebert and Roeper) said that this was his pick for the best film of 2007 "so far" back in June or so. I wouldn't got that far, but it was a decent movie. In retrospect, I think I originally rated this film higher than it deserves.
It's still worth a watch.
