Review of The Look of Silence (2014) by Jack G — 06 Jul 2015
Not as cinematically daring or once in a lifetime as The Act of Killing, but... no, actually, the latter parts not true. how often will you get to see a brother of someone who was among a million killed by death squads confront the perpetrators to find not revenge but just some level of understanding, even possibly forgiveness if there's any sign that these people see what they did as wrong.
so as an emotional experience, of seeing the 'wounds' of this and what it means to confront it on all sides, it's maybe greater - certainly the film I've seen this year that I tell you unequivocally go see.
