Review of The Look of Love (2013) by Travis H — 02 Jul 2013
Michael Winterbottom is one of Britain's finest directors, but this is one of his less satisfying efforts. The story of the 'King of Soho' in Paul Raymond is entertaining and enjoyable but it never reaches great heights.
It falls between the cracks of tragedy of comedy never truly hitting either. The production design is great in recreating 60s and 70s London but it doesn't carry your interest in the main character, mainly because Raymond is not a captivating enough subject.
Worthwhile but less than rewarding.
