Review of The Longest Yard (2005) by Vishal C — 07 Jun 2013
I'll admit--I haven't seen the original, so I may be coming down on this a bit harsh. But here's what I think. I think that this movie is bogged down by a plot line that has been used by every cliché sports movie known to man.
Sandler, once again, uses slapstick as his mainstream method of comedy. I'll admit, when it comes to Sandler himself, I enjoy his one-liner jabs, which is one of the reasons I'd enjoy any Sandler movie.
But this movie was not funny at all, I only found my self laughing once or twice, and found the rest of it's content uninteresting. The plot has holes, and doesn't fly straight at all, with random characters and story arch's that have nothing to do with anything.
If you are a hardcore Sandler fan--and I mean HARD-hardcore--Then go ahead and watch it. The rest of us, however, will find this to be a mind-numbing exercise.
