Review of The Longest Ride (2015) by Akiko A — 20 May 2015
The Longest Ride is sweet story based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. I am a big fan of Brittany Robertson who I think is a very natural actress that is totally relatable. Sophia is in her last months of college obtaining an art degree with a huge opportunity waiting for her in a New York City gallery.
Everything she dreamed about for a career was about to happen for her. Marcia convinces Sophia she should come out to a rodeo party with her instead of locking herself in her room studying. Sophia locks eyes with Luke after he rides his bull & loses his hat.
Later, they catch up at a party where Luke & Sophia begin their complicated romance. Luke & Sophia are going in opposite directions. Sophia is not interested in a college affair but...they can't seem to stay away from each other.
One fateful night, Luke rescues Ira, an elderly gentleman who has quite a romantic past that links his story with Luke & Sophia. Ira tells beautiful tales of how he and his wife who has passed on conquered their difficulties with love.
At times, it didn't look like they would make it. It turns out the worst of times helped strengthen their love. Luke & Sophia find their relationship at a crossroads, and the journey Ira & his wife endured becomes part of their story.
A wonderful, romantic movie with a sweet ending. I think sometimes people over analyze movies, sometimes you just have to go with it. If you do, it is not a disappointment.
