Review of The Longest Ride (2015) by Moya W — 04 Nov 2015
I have seen all of the movies based on Nicholas Sparks books and I've always ended up loving them except the two recent ones where I haven't ended up being as happy as I would have expected. The truth is, it has nothing to do with the movies. The reason why I've ended up a little bit disappointed is because when it comes to the two recent Nicholas Sparks movies, I actually happened to read the book first.
The books are gripping and endearing and passionate in a way that the movie just wasn't. I felt that the flashbacks of Ira and Ruth just didn't feel as natural in the movie as in the book. I would have wanted to see more of Sophia and Luke and less of Ira and Ruth.
The story of Sophia and Luke was the one that compelled me the most and I think that if I had seen more of them this movie would have been more of a tearjerker, the way that all of the movies based on a Nicholas Sparks novel tend to be.
