Review of The Longest Day (1962) by Michael S — 06 Oct 2007
The adaptation of Cornelius Ryan's book by the same name. Hollywood's biggest stars of the time share the limelight in this depiction of the events leading up to and including D-Day from both the German and allied stand point.
The title actually comes from a comment made by Rommel to his aide that the battle on the beaches would be 'the longest day' for both the allies and the Germans. See Sean Connery before he was 007 as a soldier on one of the British beaches.
