I love war movies but even for its time, people had to wonder why the movie was so damn long. Acting is laughable sometimes and although it gets events about D-Day right, the re-enactments are pretty poor.
The large amount of people involved in making it is impressive. Citizen Kane stood the "test of time" and still is great from todays standards but The Longest Day is good, cheesy, and laughable today.
