Outline.

Ed (Fehr) has always been at his happiest when filming life as it unfolds in front of him with his home recorder. That is until the day when his girlfriend cheats on him and his videos catch up with him. He is about to lose his job and his crazy brother (Klein) is helping him get laid, all the while clips from his collection play in his mind as he interacts with people. His clips are ruining his life and he only has one weekend to fix it.

Review.

I have a huge problem with a movie that is basically put together like an America?s Funniest Home Video episode. I applaud the writer and director for trying something new but they weren?t able to incorporate the script with the video clips to make a good comedy. I could have written this movie myself with two weeks to write the script and two days to go on You Tube and download funny clips. The video clips themselves were the best thing of the movie as they were funny, disgusting, and sometimes down right disturbing. It?s the actual storyline that was the downfall of this movie. They went with standard toilet humor that has been done a thousand times before and offered nothing new. The concept of a guy who can?t score with woman and needs help from some swinging relation type has been done so many times before that you need originality to really pull it off. The unfunny script coupled with an unfunny main actor Brendan Fehr had flop written all over it from the start. Chris Klein was funny but there was no way he could pull this movie out of its low level mediocrity. My suggestion to you is instead of watching this movie go on You Tube and look at clips for a couple of hours. You will capture the essence of the movie while being able to find your own clips that you find funny. Long Weekend is an appropriate title as that?s how long it looked to film this movie. Stay away from it there is much better out there.
