Review of The Long Riders (1980) by Skip L — 25 Sep 2008
Not the best western out there, but it has its moments. It stays relatively true to history and the fate of the James-Younger Gang. Though all the actors give relatively good performances, some it seems a bit wooden, and the portrayal of Jesse James is nowhere near the same caliber as the likes of Brad Pitt's portrayal (Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford).
The Long Riders' best performance is without doubt, David Carradine as Coleman Younger. He gives us all the grit and charm of a true outlaw. Carradine's two brothers give adequate performances, David really steals the show.
