Review of The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) by Derek B — 05 Jul 2009
Entertaining action thriller with Geena Davis in a sort of dual role as her younger self: brash and psychotic and blonde; and her gentler older red-headed mommie self who'd forgotten all about her earlier career as an assassin.
Probably 20 minutes too long, and the ending is really implausible. Both of the key characters are horribly wounded, and look as though they're seconds from death, but yet one manages to revive and one-handedly fire a machine gun (and other exploits) while the other drives a getaway car at enormous speed while dodging the fallout from a massive explosion.
If it had been in more of a comic-book style this would have been excusable, of course. The running joke with Hennessy's mondegreens was fun.
