Review of The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) by David T — 09 Sep 2012
I can understand why Cutthroat Island tanked but this one worked much better. At the time, we were used to Geena Davis for her family film roles as well as weird comedies. Not so much a swashbuckling pirate or any action film by that matter.
But this added the Geena Davis we knew and loved and then 180 role change. The reason why I compare this to Cutthroat is because both were directed by Renny Harlin who was Geena's significant other and he was trying to turn Geena into an action star.
Also this was Shane Black's script that sold for $3 million.
