Review of The Long Goodbye (1973) by Chris A — 25 Jan 2008
This film is from one of my favorite periods of American cinema...a wonderful time of the traditional and experimental, some of the most interesting music to ever come out of Hollywood, terrific performances by the then 30 something boomers, and amazing directing by the so-called silent generation.
This particular film, a remake of classic Bogart of a classic Chandler, sports a wonderfully cool Gould, (completely out of place with the psychedelic 70's of the film's setting) in the title role, and the one-of-a-kind directing of the legendary Robert Altman.
