Review of The Lonely Guy (1984) by Matt Kelly! — 19 Jun 2008
If you ask any film historian/student they'll tell you there are 4 important films in the last 3 years of the 60's. The Graduate, Bonnie & Clyde, Night of the Living Dead... and this. I can honestly say after seeing all four that this is my least favorite of the batch.
What's ironic is that I also understand why this is probably the most important of the batch. The mostly plotless story shows exactly what the 60's were like to a large group of people. This is what distracts me with the film though is how plotless it really seems to be.
I'd put it right up there with reading On the Road where the whole time I think to myself "I can understand why this is important, but there's no story to follow".
