Review of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962) by David S — 25 Sep 2011
A film about how one's personal history and choices lead to current circumstances, and how some choices are about "fitting in" or being an individual (and the consequences of same). The film is beautifully shot and acted; my small problem with it is, to me, there isn't as much tension/frustration with the ending scenes as is intended.
I thought the long-term outcome was telegraphed by the previous scenes effectively, robbing the climax of much beyond being a foregone conclusion.
