Review of The Lone Ranger (2013) by Charlie C — 18 Feb 2014
Despite lacklustre reviews and poor box office this is a fun and silly blockbuster that worked for me. Depp and Hammer are a great double act and the film recreates the old West in the same way that Donner's 'Maverick' did in the 90's.
Like the 'Pirates' films it's too long but then most origin films tend to be. The action (especially the finale on runaway trains) is impressive and in this day and age it's nice to come across a hero who doesn't like to kill the villains.
If you haven't seen it yet then give it a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised.
