Verbinski is an amazing director, and he delivers another solid blockbuster with Depp. The biggest problem with the movie is the flashback motif. It is unnecessary and adds bloat to an already long movie.
Despite that, the effects are great, as are the locations, costumes and stunts. Best western-action-comedy since Shanghai Noon.
