Review of The Loft (2014) by Alexander H — 19 Aug 2015
The Loft is a Hollywood remake of Belgian film, Loft by Eric Van Looy. The Loft is about 5 gentlemen friends who made a shared secret apartment investment which they can use for their extra-marital affairs.
Conflict happens when one day; a dead girl is found at the loft where the blaming game to each five friends will reveal the truth behind the murder. The Loft has a very hooking story. It made me glued to it until the end because the conflict and mystery it presented was intriguing and interesting enough for me to do a guessing game of who murder who.
I think it was cleverly made in twisting the story and playing flashbacks to help watchers analyze the conflict of the film. When it comes to the casts, James Marsden and Wentworth Miller were standouts, but Karl Urban and Matthias Schoenaerts, were good as well.
While The Loft makes the wives be cautious of their husbands' affairs, gave us unlikable characters and shows the ugly side of marriage unfaithfulness, The Loft shares to us that infidelity has karma and one must know who our true friend is.
I wish it could have a better and active ending especially having the wife characters get their revenge instead of continuing an unfinished romance.
