Review of The Loft (2014) by Dann M — 17 May 2017
Full of intrigue, The Loft is a dark and mysterious erotic thriller. When a woman is found dead in a loft rented by five friends for secret sexual liaisons they start to turn on each other as they attempt to discover what happened and who is behind the woman's murder.
Karl Urban, James Marsden and Wentworth Miller lead the cast and deliver fairly solid performances. And the script does a good job at crafting an engaging murder mystery with shocking twists and reveals (though it does use a couple of standard tropes).
However, the characters are a little underdeveloped and the final plot twist is a bit rushed. Yet while it has a few weaknesses, The Loft is a suspenseful and provocative film.
