Review of The Lobster (2015) by Charlie H — 19 Jul 2017
Goodness me, The Lobster is as absorbing as it is weird - and it's very weird. Set in an unusual world where being single is illegal, The Lobster has a lot of powerful things to say about love, relationships & society.
What is so admirable about The Lobster is its stubborn refusal to meet the audience's expectations. It's trying to be strange and unnerving. The performances and cinematography in The Lobster, notably its creepy Jaws-esque score, succeed in emotionally exhausting you by the end.
The Lobster is brilliant. The satire & cynicism of this sci-fi entertains, shocks, disgusts & leaves you dumbstruck.
