Review of The Lobster (2015) by Simone S — 17 Sep 2017
The Lobster was a self indulgent exercise of the intellectual's idea of a shock tactic and shortcuts to extort gut reactions to otherwise weak cinematography.
The writing just seemed lazy with a completely unnecessary second half that didn't accomplish to answer any questions or dig deeper into any of the bigger themes and stylistic devices that it casually throws together.
The use of the omniscient narrator was as redundant as the repeated use of unnecessary sadism masked as witty and cynical humor that turns out to be just a couple of decades old clichés.
A big empty bang with a lot of ambitions.
