Review of The Lobster (2015) by David A — 13 Feb 2017
Clearly there was a lot of thought behind this movie. A satirical take on modern dating and societal expectations related to it. However, it is so buried in its own pomposity that the humor elicits little more than a "oh, that was clever" and, occasionally, a chuckle.
Meanwhile, is there some particular reason that all the cast were apparently heavily sedated while filming? With perhaps two exceptions, if they were any more low-key, they would lack a pulse. If you really love self-important art house satires, then this one will provide you will some intellectually witty stimulation.
If you want something funny, keep moving. Nothing much to see here.
