Review of The Lobster (2015) by Alanna W — 08 Jul 2016
It's been a long time since I saw a movie that I disliked as intensely as this one. Fifteen minutes into it, my wife and I wanted to leave. The desultory, discordant soundtrack, the flat emotionless tones of the actors, the dreary tones and lighting, all combined in an expereince that left me completely detached from the movie.
I kept waiting for something redeeming about it, and never did. We are independent film lovers, almost never attend the large theaters. But if this movie was art, it wasn't beautiful nor engaging art.
It was an ordeal.
