Review of The Lobster (2015) by Michelle I — 11 Jun 2016
I give it 2 stars because I enjoyed seeing which animal would next stroll through the woods: Truffle-sniffing pig, peacock, two-humped camel. And it was beautifully filmed. I wouldn't bother trying to find a compatible human partner.
I'd choose to come back as a dolphin or perhaps a male silverback gorilla to help repopulate the species. I wonder how many takes it took for each scene because of the actors cracking up at the absurdity.
Did Collin Farrell put on 30 pounds deliberately or has he been on an extended vacation? It does speak of society's imposed restrictions of what makes a proper relationship, but it says too much. I never found out why the woman in the oddest opening scene ever shot the donkey.
It was probably her ex-husband.
