Review of The Lobster (2015) by Karine B — 02 Aug 2016
I mistakenly built up my anticipation for this film only to be disappointed in it's clumsiness. Those that advocate this film allude to its dark comedic effect deeming it satirical. True, captivating satire is what one would find in a Pedro Almodovar film where one would feel compelled to laugh out loud.
Not one second in this film was funny or compelling. I agree with some of the professional reviewers who stated that the absurd darkness overshadows the point this film is so ineffectively attempting to convey.
The second half of the film in particular takes a nose dive. An utter disappointment.
