Review of The Lobster (2015) by Isadore H — 14 Sep 2016
The Lobster is a surprisingly funny tale of a man in the near future who must find love in 45 days or be turned into the animal of his choice, which is naturally a lobster. Colin Farrell is great as the lead character, in fact everyone in the cast is excellent.
Dozens of hilarious scenarios showing what lengths some of the characters are willing to do to avoid becoming an animal are in here. The film slows itself down several times to move along important plot points, which killed some of its momentum, but that is really the only issue I have with it.
The camerawork is brilliant, every scene is magnificently shot, and several slow motion scenes really showed off how talented the crew is. An ambiguous ending left me a little puzzled, but it felt right for this movie.
The Lobster is a really odd film, but one that almost anyone should find enjoyment in.
