Review of The Lobster (2015) by Chris B — 01 Feb 2017
The Lobster has a compelling premise, but ultimately fails in executing its potential. For the first half hour of the film the viewer is drawn into a fantastic world where single people must endure a rigid selection process to find a new mate or be turned into an animal.
Unfortunately the film fails to develop any compelling relationships between characters, and devolves into a mess of nonsensical scenes with monotone voiceovers, screeching violins, and slow motion shots. Without the slomo the movie would have been a good half hour shorter. Everyone involved in producing this fiasco should be ashamed.
