As if Walt Disney Pictures hadn't already enhanced my childhood in 2002 with their release of 'Lilo and Stitch,' which forever engrained the meaning of family into my 5 year old self, they went on in 2003 to create an encouraging, culturally rich film that is, The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Over the 14 years it has been available, I have watched it countless times and never been disappointed. Through character growth, engaging music, and a beautiful setting, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, is easily one of Walt Disney Pictures' greatest productions.

In the film, Hilary Duff plays her longtime character Lizzie McGuire. The movie kicks off with an embarrassing middle school experience for Lizzie to set the groundwork for her awkward character. As the movie progresses, one can watch her self-conscious, worrisome self strive for confidence and learn from her experiences, which will overall change her persona. Towards the end, Lizzie ventures out and faces adversity at a music awards performance, which in turn rewards her with the self-assurance she needs. Not only does this transition give hope to all who watch this movie and want to mature, but encourage them to take adventures and allow themselves to gain confidence. These are just a few reasons why this is one of Walt Disney Pictures' best.

Lizzie is constantly exploring throughout the film and the background music enhances each of her experiences. Every song is catchy, playful and sets the mood for the film, which immediately draws the audience in. Most people have heard a Hilary Duff song and lucky for us they occasionally play throughout the movie. During these scenes, viewers can connect to Hilary and knowing that she plays Lizzie creates a fun twist within the movie. This use of Hilary's music foreshadows Lizzie's last setback as she is forced to sing at the Italian music awards. Within that scene, she reveals her voice and develops a sing-a-long as the grand finale. This musical aspect enhances the entire film and makes it engaging for all.

If Lizzie's character and music weren't enough to generate an entertaining film, the setting does the trick. Lizzie takes off to Rome on a school trip and each scene is full of the beautiful buildings, sculptures, and landmarks that give the city its elegance and popularity. After seeing this movie, it will be obvious studying abroad like Lizzie is essential. Here, Lizzie not only finds constant adventures, but a boy who steals her heart. This boy shows her the grace Rome holds while they tour around, but also has a secret agenda to send Lizzie into turmoil. His plotting forces Lizzie to problem solve, in turn allowing her character to grow. All of these components come together to assemble a wonderful setting for Lizzie to mature in and overall an aesthetically pleasing film.

2003 was a hit year for Walt Disney Pictures' as Lizzie's character at the end embodies the type of charisma we all strive for. The music absorbs the audience and the setting constructs a visually compelling film. This production has encouraged its viewers to expand and grow as people, as well as travel to not only see the beauty our world has to offer, but to experience escapades that will change your life. These aspects clearly come together to make, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, a must see.
