Review of The Living Daylights (1987) by Colin F — 19 Nov 2011
Absolutely flawless James Bond film, it is fresh and full of energy which is what the series needed at the time as Roger Moore had been starting to look tired in the role and so had the films. Timothy Dalton gives a superb performance as Bond and by ten minutes into the film he has made the character his own, he is a superb playing the character more grittier than ever seen before. Even though I like Roger Moore, Dalton is playing a more realistic character.
The film itself is very fast paced with some great sequences with the brilliant opening with Dalton hanging onto the top of the land rover no stuntman here. The scenes with the Aston Martin in the snow are great as well, I have had a few optional extras installed! The film ends on a great conclusion with some death defying stunts. The soundtrack is great as well very 80s.
I first saw the Living Daylights in the Cinema when I was 9 and thought it was the best thing ever, almost 25 years later it is still one of the best ever Bond films.
