Review of The Living Daylights (1987) by Qhulk J — 21 Dec 2008
More or less ace. This is the best Bond film of the 80's. The energy and direction rocks throughout, the locals are classic Bond, and the plot is pure 007 awesomeness. Flawed in some cases? Yeah. Joe Don Baker's villain? Pretty silly.
The other villain? Kind of a poor mans Red Grant. It kicks it back a star. I have to say it again, a Bond film needs SUPERB villains to be truly great. Not much beyond that, however, as most of the film tries extremely well to make up for it and largely succeeds.
John Barry returns for his lasts core and it's a great one. Classic Bond from start to finish.
