Review of The Living Daylights (1987) by Derek F — 16 Nov 2015
This was definitely what the series needed. After all of the silliness and misogyny, Dalton plays an effective mission-focused Bond who is more faithful to Fleming's literary Bond. Instead of a megalomaniac ruling the world, the plot is refreshingly about a Soviet defection and a clandestine arms deal.
The Afghan War and airplane set piece in the third act are standouts. With some tightening up, a more interesting female lead, and better villains, it would've been a great movie.
