Review of The Living Daylights (1987) by Troy F — 24 Aug 2012
The new Bond, Timothy Dalton and the updated high-tech look was just what the Bond series needed after the somewhat lame A View To A Kill where Roger Moore had aged far too much. Timothy Dalton may not be the best Bond, but he substitutes the corniness and wit of Roger Moore for a more smarter, charming and intelligent Bond character that has more style.
I'll admit he could've used a bit more wit, but the point is he brings a fresh feel to the Bond series. The Living Daylights on the Bond timeline is the most exciting one action wise since For Your Eyes Only, as the other two films after entertained a bit but lacked the thrills.
The story is slightly congested, and I wish I could know the villains a bit better, but it's hard to complain considering the truly exciting events that bring them together in a match with Bond. The Living Daylights gave hope to the series, despite Dalton being short lived as Bond.
