Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Isabelle P — 23 Aug 2010
One of the most intimately incisive films I have ever seen. A tribute to the unlikely man compelled to heroic action through the stirring of his heart. This in spite of a sickly penetrative ideology that controls the masses by convincing the spirit of its own diseased lack of resiliency; an ideology that doesn't have to kill the dissidents off as it despairs them of life.
In a time when heroism seems attached to transcendent ideas and beliefs, this story plainly suggests that if we choose to closely observe one another, we ll find and understand every reason there is to care and protect each other.
