Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Julian B — 05 Aug 2014
One of the most astonishing films I have ever witnessed. It captures the dreary architecture of totalitarianism in East Germany with a devastating touch. The film embraces its characters and entwines one of the best dialogues that has come to my ears.
It is like a sonata this film, it is harmonious as it gives us a story that is intense, emotional, distressing, but yet has a beauty. It is precise and gives a cataclysmic depth of the political game and how integrity and compassion makes us vulnerable.
This is a film that stays with you for a long, long time. Unforgettable.
