Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Adeel K — 03 Jan 2010
The movie that beat out Panâ??s Labyrinth for the â??Best Foreign Language Film Oscarâ?? in â??07 had to be good right? Yes this was a very good movie, in the vein of â??Army of Shadowsâ?? because it hits on the topic of the sacrifice of man.
It follows an East German Spy as he tracks the life of a West German sympathizer. How the plot unfolds is very intriguing, and this was a very good film, but I still side with Panâ??s as a superior film.
The acting and direction is very solid but is pretty low key in most other elements, as it never really commands a re-watch.
