Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Linnea H — 04 Jan 2011
Set in the totalitarian police state of the former German Democratic Republic.
In the year infamous in literately fiction for totalitarianism (1984). Serves as an excellent back drop to fully engage audiences from all across the globe in a shared universal vision of one of our collectively shared worst fear.
The Lives of Others is a potent reminder of the importance of free expression and all that derives from it. And that by taking it away you take away the very life of the persons in question.
That we should also not be complacent and take it for granted.
Thrilling and well acted and rich in tension. The Lives of Others is a must see for those who like thought provoking film making.
