Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Andrei S — 06 Mar 2011
A "quiet" movie with no exciting action scenes or fast paced drama, but whose greatness lies just beneath the surface. The director excellently replicates the gloomy, "grey" atmosphere of the DDR and Stasi's work methods.
The action develops slowly, along with some of the characters, towards a bitter-sweet ending with a few twists and turns on the way.
