Review of The Lives of Others (2006) by Jovan J — 27 May 2011
Great movie I was assigned to watch for class, but really glad I did! Great development from in the Wiesler character, definitely didn't see his transformation coming, he really steals the show. Beautiful cinematography.
Great performances by all. The movie started a bit slow for me, but once I understood the intentions and desires of everyone involved, it really began to pick up and seemed more interesting to me. As the movie progresses, the tension and danger really pick up for the main characters, and I began to adopt the same feelings of fear and disillusionment as the characters do about the strict government they're forced to live under.
This movie rewards you for waiting, definitely not for the impatient.
