Review of The Little Rascals (1994) by Dustin D — 28 Oct 2016
Little kids will find The Little Rascals funny and won't mind the thin plot or somewhat disjointed segments. The visual gags are well executed, and are reminiscent of the low-brow humor of the original Our Gang shorts and other comedies of the 1930s.
Adults might cringe at some of the nudges to more mature audiences (like when Alfalfa's cowlick pops up when Darla kisses him), but will enjoy some of the cameo appearances that are hit-or-miss (Mel Brooks isn't necessary in his role, but Donald Trump is appropriately playing himself).
Although it is not a very smart comedy, compared to modern kids movies, The Little Rascals doesn't seem to be condescending or pandering.
