The Little Mermaid ushered in the "second golden age" of Disney as most would say. And they would be right. I never liked this film all too much as a child but as I grew older I was able to respect it a lot more for the great movie it is.
Oh, and if you like this movie you should seriously check out Ponyo. It shares the same basic plot as it is loosely inspired by the same Hans Christian Andersen story but just remember that I'm using the word "loosely" very strictly.
It's a great film that's really imaginative and is also very thought provoking as well. 4 out of 5 Stars.
