Disney was on it's death mantle before they resurrected their animation department, and they came up with this timeless gem. The first of Disney's four "new renaissance" animated films and the last mostly hand-drawnbefore Disney started going heavy on the CGI.
Alan Menken and Howard Ashman created what could be the best musical soundtrack in animated history.
