Review of The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976) by Caleb M — 14 May 2010
It's awful dirty down there in the cellar.
Rynn is a little girl who lives by herself after her father died after he set her up with a house and her mother ran off on the family. She constantly has to lie to survive on her own; however, when a sexual predator pursues her, she will have to rely on her wits and some help from the neighborhood to not become a victim of unspeakable acts.
"You mean at first you can't breath?".
"Apparently.".
Nicolas Gessner, director of The Blond from Peking, Someone Behind the Door, It Rained All Night the Day I Left, Quicker than the Eye, and Tennessee Nights, delivers The Little Girl Who Lived Down the Lane. The storyline for this picture is interesting but leaves the audience feeling a bit unfulfilled in the end. The cast delivers remarkable performances and includes Jodie Foster, Martin Sheen, and Alexis Smith.
"I'm not as good at lying as you are.".
I came across this film while flicking through the channels and had to record this picture when I read the plot and saw it starred a young Jodie Foster and Martin Sheen. Foster played her role to perfect; although seeing her naked was a bit odd (I believe she was 14 when this was recorded). Martin Sheen played his sleaze ball role to perfection. This is a worthwhile drama that is worth one viewing but may not be worth owning.
"I get to spank you on your birthday.".
Grade: B.
