Review of The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976) by Angelina C — 28 Oct 2010
Hmmmm Hmmm....I want to give this film credit for trying to do something different but I'm not exactly sure if it succeeded or not. This film keeps us watching but in the end leaves the viewer dissatisfied because yea, no real answers are given but also no questions are raised either-it's like the film was just wandering around for the last hour or so. Nothing interesting really happened, rather nothing happened that would further the story along. Jodie's character ends up having a boyfriend, which is fine but their relationship doesn't amount to much and the fact that he isn't horrified by what he finds out about her makes little sense. The film starts off fine and it has a creepy feel to it but it suffers from a weak second half. When the credits start rolling, you wonder-THAT'S IT? The best part of this film is Jodie Foster's performance. As if, this role was tailor made for her. Martin Sheen is great too.
Watch it if your a Jodie fan or interested in atmospheric thrillers.
