Review of The Lion King (2019) by Caesarsalad — 27 Jul 2019
I was shocked when Mufasa died! The only thing live action about this movie is the ground. It's the same movie as the original yet worse. They don't even really try anything new. They do scenes exactly the same.
Except they take some things out like Rafiki hitting Simba and the lesson that scene teaches. Why keep everything the same yet leave some stuff out especially since this movie is longer? The voice acting is alright some people are good and others are just okay.
The singing is good. Beyonce is really good, but because of that she outshines Donald Glover. While Donald Glover is a much better voice actor than Beyonce. The singing is good, but the songs are not as good as the original.
There were 2 original songs though which were nice. But some songs just don't work like "be prepared" and "can you feel the love tonight". They sing "can you feel the love tonight" during the day.
They don't even really sing the best villain song "be prepared". The only really good thing I can say about this movie is the CGI. But that doesn't just automatically make this movie good. You can dress up a dish all you want but if it tastes bad dressing it up isn't going to change that.
More importantly because of this realistic CGI you lose emotional facial expression and because of this the actors had to portray all of the characters emotions just through their voice. This wasn't enough most of the time.
This movie just isn't good it's lazy it does everything the same way except losing what made the original so great. If you just want to watch lion king just watch the original even now it still looks amazing because of it's beautifully hand drawn animation.
These live action Disney remakes never live up to the original or even come close and this is just another one of those except probably the worse one I've seen this year.
