Review of The Lion King (1994) by Justin W — 11 May 2013
The Lion King is one of those movies I watched since I was five years old. I never saw it in theaters till it came out on video. The music in this movie is fantastic. One of the songs from the soundtrack "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", was the 1st song that intoduced me to Elton John and it is one of my favorite songs.
What a cast of actors: James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Matthew Broderick (Adult Simba), Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Young Simba), Jeremy Irons (Scar), Nathan Lane (Timon), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa), Whoopi Goldberg (Shenzi), Cheech Marin (Banzai), Moira Kelly (Adult Nala), Robert Guillaume (Rafiki), and Rowan Atkinson (Zazu).
This was the 1st movie that intoduced me to the amazing Jeremy Irons and the hilarious Nathan Lane. My mom became a big fan of Lane when she saw this movie, we would later see him in the classic comedy The Birdcage.
As for Irons, I think he was brilliant as the evil Scar. I also loved the song he perfomed "Be Prepared" and I admire him in this movie and Die Hard: With a Vengence. Amazing animation, terriffic performances, and brilliant music.
Next to Aladdin and Beauty of the Beast, The Lion King is without a doubt one of Walt Disney Pictures' classic animated movies. Pure entertainment for the whole family and all ages!
