Review of The Lion King (1994) by Rhondje S — 10 Jul 2013
The highest grossing 2D animated motion picture beloved by so many and is considered the peak of the Disney renaissance. You can clearly see that this movie was produced by people that are masters of their craft.
Everything in this movie is perfect. The gorgeous and grand landscapes makes for arguably the best looking 2D animated motion picture ever made. The colors, the richly drawn nature, it`s simply put a visual masterpiece.
There is so much to love here, the characters are wonderful and thanks to the spectacular voice acting and script we feel emotionally connected to them. Simba`s journey finding himselfe is emotionally touching.
The soundtrack is excellent with classic songs we all know and love like "Can you feel the love tonight" "Hakuna matata" and "The circle of life". This is a prime example of comic relief done right.
Timon and Pumbaa are hilarious both for children and adults thanks to some superb personalities and a few adult jokes. The themes of redemption, forgivness, family and love fits perfectly into the story.
A truly magical classic.
