Review of The Lion King 1½ (2004) by Jordan T — 28 Apr 2014
As a kid, Lion King 1 1/2 was my favorite of the two LK sequels, since it starred my favorite characters from the movie. Today, the two sequels are actually kind of at a tie right now. Even today, I really like this movie.
It was quite funny for the most part, brought back the cast of characters, and had some good callbacks to the first film. However, it definitely is very much a kid's film. Despite that, the film is also heartwarming at times, and shows a side of the story that we never really saw that much in the first: Timon and Pumbaa's point of view.
Here, we spend more moments with their side in the actual events of the predecessor, see how well they took care of Simba in his years in the jungle, and gave Timon a lot of great character development.
I know that a lot of people don't like this film, but I really loved it.
