Review of The Lion in Winter (1968) by Dexter F — 12 Apr 2008
Had the incredible happenstance to have seen this film recently. It was one of my friend's favorite films, it has now become one of mine! Intrigue, double-crossing, and deals, medieval style. Katharine Hepburn does an incredible performance as Eleanor of Aquitaine, and the rest of the cast are incredible as well.
Dialogue borders on the Shakespearean, and no lines are wasted--each line hits practically in the gut, very powerful. The Middle Ages never looked so real on film, ever. Highly recommended!
