Review of The Lion in Winter (1968) by Jostein B — 27 Dec 2010
Though long and slow-paced at times, "The Lion in Winter" provides solid entertainment, mainly due to its cast and dialogue. The acting of Katherine Hepburn, who did win an Oscar for this performance, is very good and Peter O'toole's performance is also very strong.
The lines stated within the film, particularily with the conversations between the King and Queen, are very interesting and at times, very amusing. The set pieces in the film, including the castles and scenery are also quite strong.
I just wish for this film there was more violence and sword fights. That would added good entertainment. Not a bad film, none-the-less, saved essentially by the cast members.
